Rope Access Safety Policy

1. Introduction

PROSCAN SDN BHD (PSB) is committed to ensuring the highest level of safety in all rope access operations. This policy outlines our commitment to maintaining compliance with the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA) International Code of Practice (ICOP) and relevant industry regulations.

2. Policy Statement

We recognize that rope access work involves inherent risks, and we are dedicated to minimizing these risks through proper planning, training, equipment management, and adherence to best practices. We will:

  • Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and IRATA guidelines.
  • Ensure all rope access personnel are competent, trained, and certified under the IRATA Training, Assessment, and Certification Scheme (TACS).
  • Implement and maintain a Rope Access Safety Management System (RASMS).
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and work planning before undertaking any rope access tasks.
  • Provide appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure its proper use.
  • Encourage a safety culture where hazards, near misses, and incidents are reported and addressed promptly.

3. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Management: Ensure compliance with IRATA ICOP and legal requirements; provide resources for training and safety improvements; promote a strong safety culture.

6. Emergency Response

  • A detailed rescue plan must be in place for every rope access operation.
  • Rescue equipment must be available on-site at all times.
  • Clear communication procedures must be established for emergency situations.

7. Incident Reporting and Investigation

  • All incidents, near misses, and equipment failures must be reported immediately.
  • A formal investigation will be conducted to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Lessons learned will be shared with the team to prevent recurrence.

8. Compliance and Enforcement

Non-compliance with this policy will result in disciplinary action. Employees are encouraged to report safety concerns without fear of reprisal.

9. Policy Review

This policy will be reviewed annually or as required to ensure ongoing compliance with IRATA standards and industry best practices.
